# Invite a friend

Send a link. When they open it, you share a channel.

Tap an empty channel, send your friend the link, and you share that channel as soon as they join.

## Send an invite

1. Turn the dial to an empty channel. It says “+ Tap to add friends.”
2. Tap it and choose **A friend**.
3. Send the link however you like: Messages, WhatsApp, anywhere. Send the whole thing. The part after the # is your channel’s key, and COPY’s server never sees it.

While you wait, the channel says “Waiting for friend...”. Hold it to cancel. When they join, it says “Connected.”

## What your friend sees

- **If they have COPY,** the invite opens on one of their empty channels with “Tap to join.”
- **If they don’t,** the link opens a page that says “A channel saved for you.” They tap **Copy invite + Get COPY**, install, and COPY picks up the invite during setup.

## If it doesn’t work

- **“Invite expired.”** Links last 30 days. Tap the channel to send a fresh one.
- **“All channels full.”** Your friend needs an empty channel. In Settings, then Friends, then **Reorder channels**, they can [move one off the dial](https://getcopy.app/help/your-twelve-channels).
- **“Send it to a friend.”** You opened your own link.
- **“Link invalid.”** Ask for a new one.
