How to send voice messages that disappear after listening

How to do it in iMessage and WhatsApp, step by step.

In iMessage, audio messages already disappear by default, two minutes after they’re played. In WhatsApp, turn on view once before you send.

iMessage

To check yours, open Settings, then Apps, then Messages, and look for Expire under Audio Messages. Choose After 2 Minutes or Never.

The listener can still tap Keep under the message.

WhatsApp

WhatsApp has view once voice messages. They play one time and can’t be forwarded.

  1. Open the chat.
  2. Hold the microphone button and slide up to lock the recording.
  3. Tap the view once icon, the 1 in a circle, so it turns on.
  4. Record, then send.

COPY

In COPY, every message works this way. There’s no setting to find. Hold down. Talk. Let go. Your friend hears it once, then it’s deleted. If nobody plays it, it’s erased after seven days.

With COPY Club, they can replay it for ten minutes. Your friend needs COPY too.

A walkie talkie for your phone. Yes, really.
